Just to clarify re: the pings.
The first set of pings (the ones below each of the traces) were done by me
right after doing the traces. The packet loss looks high because (as we
discovered after some investigation) icmp is heavily filtered by the
server to reduce the effect of DDoS attacks.
The set of pings at the bottom of the app are the "real" pings which we
did at 5 second intervals to avoid packets being dropped by the filters.
I've snipped the top part of the app and left the proper pings below to
avoid confusion.
